Fred Ballard was born in 1952 in Austin TX. After seven years of construction work and two years of research & design experience in manufacturing, Fred entered the five-year architecture program at the University of Texas at Austin in 1981 and graduated in 1986. Following his internship with Frank O. Gehry & Associates, and Johannes van Tilburg & Partners, Fred was first registered as an Architect in California in 1992, and joined the American Institute of Architects (AIA #30104421) later that year. He was granted “blue-cover reciprocity” by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB #43439) in 1993 and has been licensed as an Architect in several states since then.
Fred’s dental office design experience began in 1998 at T.H.E. Design, Inc. in Austin TX where he was trained by Dr. Harry Demaree, and worked alongside Drew Cotten, AIA for four years; and acted as a Project Manager and consultant/architect on more than one hundred dental office design projects. When Fred opened his own office in 2003, he continued to work exclusively in dental office design, and he established DentalOfficeDesignConsulting in 2004.
